FAQs
+ Can you design a stationery piece for me?
Certainly, our in-house design team specialise in designing for print. Our modern approach has seen us design stationery pieces for great variety of brands, from lifestyle to legacy.
+ Do you accept designs for a print-only service?
Naturally. We love producing quality print designed by in-house design teams or creative agencies.
+ Can I see your price list?
As all our projects are bespoke we are not able to advise on standardised pricing. Do drop us a line at info@avenuelitho.com with your project specifications and we will be happy to provide a quotation.
+ I am a start-up and currently only need business cards, can you help?
Absolutely, we can assist on design and print. Our minimum order quantity for business cards is 200.
+ What print processes do you offer?
We champion heritage print processes and offer lithography, letterpress, hot foil stamping, bespoke die cut pieces, hand-finishing and gilding (foil or pantone edging).
PROCESSES
+ How do I supply artwork for print?
All artwork needs to be supplied as a PDF at the correct size - for example if your business card is 85 x 55mm the actual PDF should be supplied at 85 x 55mm.
The PDF file should be created using Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign. Adobe Photoshop is only suitable for imagery not text as it rasterizes and creates a low-resolution finish.
All Images should be 300dpi+ to produce a crisp image.
Artwork needs to include Printers’ Trim Marks.
If any parts of the image run to the edge/s of the design, 3mm bleed must be applied to that side or all sides where applicable. Bleed is not required where the image doesn't run to the edge.
Artwork that is to be litho printed should be set in either CMYK colour (if we are printing 4-colour) or with the correct pantone swatch embedded if quoted as a single or two-colour work.
Items that feature foiling, debossing, embossing or letterpress should be provided as 100% black.
If you are having multiple print processes on one item (for example litho + foiling) we will need the artwork supplied in separate PDFs alongside a visual with all processes together.
+ Which paper merchants do you work with?
We have lond-standing relationships with premium paper houses G.F Smith, Gmund, Fenner, Fedrigoni, Arjowiggins and Antalis. We are happy to consult on which materials would suit the project - from a sustainable or production perspective - or if you have a specific paper range in mind, just let us know.
+ Can you work with cotton rag papers?
Yes, we offer letterpress and hot foil printing on deckled edge, Indian cotton rag papers. Subject to sight of artwork.
+ Can you Pantone match a foil?
Unfortunately not, foil ranges are not compatible with the Pantone swatch. We can advise on complementary matches however.
PROOFING
+ Do you supply a proof as standard?
The print processes we champion mean that a no-cost physical printed proof is not possible. Lithography, letterpress and hot foil stamping use bespoke etched plates which would need to be created to produce a single proof. Furthermore, with the press set-up time required - our antique machines are all made ready by-hand - a proof isn't something we can offer as standard.
We hope that by the end of the consultancy process - after seeing samples of our past works and reading our positive reviews - you are comfortable moving forward into production with us worry-free.
+ How do I check the PDF proofs supplied?
If we are designing a bespoke print piece for you, we will issue a PDF as a proof for approval prior to any printing commences. We ask you to check over these thoroughly - and print the PDFs at actual size - to ensure there are no inaccuracies.
PACKAGING
+ Can you produce packaging boxes for my brand?
We produce card and paper-based packaging wallets, which are most often hand-finished. We do not offer corregated cardboard packaging.
+ I have bought some boxes, can you brand them with a foiled logo?
No, our foil stamping presses are not designed for this.
DELIVERY
+ How will my goods reach me?
One central London same-day or UK-wide next-day delivery is included within our quotations as standard. For national and international parcels we trust in DHL to deliver to you most often the very next day. Please ask if you would like to upgrade to a pre-noon service.
